Did You Know...

Much of the San Francisco Bay Area is a National Park? I DID know it was a National Treasure but didn't know it had that designation until I saw this wonderful program on KQED.org/Quest and what it took to get it to be a National Park within the Urban area. How convenient, eh? Hopefully we who live here will remember and those of you who visit us will be aware so as not to miss any of the available attractions.
Conservatory of Flowers Shoot

So I have a free Monday and decide to go shoot the special exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park. I guess I never went there on a Monday before...they were CLOSED! So I shot what was there which included a didgerido player, a CNet team trying to get some new gadget to work (I was gratifiyed..not just me! lol), Lots of flowers, birds & bees :~), a Mom & 2 cute kids, a real nice lady named Roschele in the new snack stand there and last but certainly not least...CARL & trumpet!

My Book Has Arrived!

After 36 years of being asked...Here's My Book! Of course it's a picture book of a 'Once Over' handheld tour. Hopefully it will bring back fond memories or encourage a return trip soon! Actually, there is an upside for us in that distilling the 110 photos in this book there were so many more that show up with amazing new directions and slants on capturing the mystique that is San Francisco. On the drawing board are titles like "Oddballs & Reflections" or "The Hoods of the Hills" or "The Alleys of San Francisco". Stay tuned here for updates and new releases.

A wonderful respite just 7 miles from mi casa! I find sanity there frequently (not nearly enough).

A Fog Fest Slideshow
A foggy day shoot in late September produced these "FogDawgs @ the Gate #3" shots. Music provided by a young 2 brother band called 'Freelands' who magically 'wafted' thru my life one day last week. He gave permission to use this music. Via email Alireza Kamran writes:
The music is recorded by my brother (Navid) and I. We like to call our 2-man band Freelands. On this particular song, Wahaj Bukhari, a good friend of mine, came up with the guitar line. I picked that up, replayed it, wrote the lyrics, and sang it. My brother added the electric piano and keys.
Have a great day,
- A
Here
Here on the starts I stand tonight
With a star in my eyes and a scar in my heart
There I recall what I have been told
All our souls are tied to grow (All our dreams are tied to go)
The kid in my reason cannot even chase
Butterflies of where we are, or where we go
Here I am... show me your love
Here I am... show me your truth
Here I am... show me your face
Here I am... show me you love
I think there's great things in store for these young men.

Fly Fishing In Golden Gate Park!

A very serendipitous stop at the Angler's Lodge for a quiet shoot encountered Floyd Dean and wife working on the some advanced techniques of Fly Casting. Floyd is an FFF Certified Master Fly Casting Instructor. He showed me some of his incredible skills including writing my initials, skipping a fly to make it look like a real insect (unattached)and even a new mechanical aid to physically teach the 'feel' of proper casting! His lovely wife Janet seemed awfully good to me but only he could write SOS!

The Worldwide Photo Walk
I had the chance to avail myself of this opportunity and found it to be very enjoyable and a satisfying experience. Lots of people to meet and very little structure other than a basic route to follow. Having a great deal of 'course knowledge' always helps. Have a look at my new slideshow and see what you think. Hope you enjoy and give feedback if you are inclined!
